What’s an Atoll?

What’s an Atoll?

Maybe you think the US blew up the Marshall Islands with their nuclear testing. Yeah, maybe a couple, but there are a lot left! They are not really islands. They are atolls.

What’s an Atoll?

It is NOT an Italian immigrant asking the price to cross a New York bridge. It IS an island formed by a ring-shaped coral reef encircling a lagoon. The word comes from the language of the Maldives, an island chain in the Indian Ocean.

The Marshall Islands are all about atolls.

The first thing the missionaries said…

Get some clothes on those women!

Give me some history, man.

If I go there, do I need a visa?

Not if you are from the US. And if you are from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, European Union (includes United Kingdom), South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, or the Philippines, (as tourists) you can get a visitors visa when you get there.

Why should I go there?
